Authentic Sambhar masala powder made at home

Sambhar masala/spice powder all made at home



Sambhar masala/spice powder is a very special ingredient in any sambhar.we all including me till date bought the masala packet from the market,as i thought its a very complicated process to prepare it at home.But as i was making it i realized its not that complicated at all,& to my surprise all the ingredients that goes with it are easily available in my kitchen.it just took me additional 10 Min's to make this masala/spice powder.but what a difference!!to my surprise as soon as i added this authentic sambhar masala/spice powder to my sambhar my whole house started smelling so good..& my husband said i just cant`t wait to taste it.
so here's my secret recipe,do try it & let me know what difference it made in your sambhar.

Here is what all u need

Ingredients
*(For making sambhar powder we`ll be doing it in two steps one is dry roasting the dry spices & grinding them & than saute the other spices in 1tsp oil & blending them & than mixing both dry spices to blended spices,to make that authentic sambhar masala/spice powder,for convenience i am marking them as masala powder no1 & masala powder no 2)

Ingredients for masala powder 1



Coriander seeds 11/2 tsp
Cumin seeds 1tsp
Fenugreek seeds 1tsp
Dry red chillies 2
Uncooked Rice 2tsp
Channa Dal 1tsp
Pepper corns 7-8
Mustard seeds 1tsp

Recipe

1.Dry roast the above mentioned dry spices in a pan,on a very low heat,remember the heat should be low & continuously stir them to make sure not to burn the spices,this will take 5 Min's,till you smell a nice aroma of spices,you`ll know you are done.switch off the heat.





2.Once cooled than its time to grind them.

Spice/masala powder 1 is ready.

Ingredients Spice/masala powder 2

All u need



Chopped tomato 1 medium
Curry leaves 5-6
Grated coconut(if you don't have fresh coconut you can also use dry coconut pdr) 1 cup
Chopped ginger1tsp
chopped garlic 1tsp
Hing just a pinch

Recipe
1.Heat 1tsp oil in a pan,add curry leaves chopped garlic & ginger,fry them for a min.
2.Add hing.
3.Add chopped tomatoes & grated coconut,just mix everything together well,you don't need to cook tomatoes,just give it a quick mix & its ready.


4.In a blender add all the Ingredients & blend you can add 1-2 tsp water if required.

Final step



once both the masalas are ready just add them together to make a nice smooth paste.your sambhar masala is ready.(just see the pics if any doubts just ask)
