Nan Khatai

NAN KHATAI



All u need 

Ingredients

Butter(at room temp) 1/2 cup
Sugar 2/3 cup
All purpose flour/maida 1/3 cup
Gramflour/besan 1/2 cup
Semolina/fine sooji/rawa 1/3 cup
Cardomom/elaichi powder 1/2 tbsp
Vanilla extract 2-3 drops
Almond extract 2-3 drops
Finely chopped almonds & pistachios for dressing
 
 

Recipe

1.Preheat the oven at 350 F.
2.In a bowl add butter & sugar, mix well.
 
 
3.Now add our flour(all purpose flour,gramflour & semolina)
4.Add drops of vanilla extract,almond extract & cardomom powder.
5.Mix everything well & make it into a dough.
 
 
6.Now divide this dough into 10-12 equal portions.(see the pics)
7.Arrange these in a baking tray,u can make any pattern u like on top,i have made a nice tic-tac-toe pattern on top with the help of butter knife & added few chopped pistachios & almonds on top.
 


8.This tray goes in the oven at 350 F for about 25 min.(make sure u bake these at a low temp,place them in the middle rack of the oven.)

Delicious nan khatai are ready.take them out of the oven & let them cool over the cooling rack before serving.these r perfect companion with tea.
sometimes nan khatai are made just with all purpose flour thats why they get that white colour but here i have used besan & semolina too,so my nan khatai are little golden brown in colour,its my moms recipe.enjoy!!
